The purpose of the project is to recognize and strengthen places by taking into consideration its boundary. The crenellated walls that runs along the "tese" enclose a densely built and organized space. It represented the hub of commercial and military power in the Republic of Venice. Beyond its boundary opens a vast singular space from the scattered island in the lagoon until the Dolomites peaks.

Identity recognition of the place is a passage that cannot be avoided in order to improve it: The arsenal as a research center and art exhibition.

The main architectural element of the intervention is a sort of "balance scale" that goes over the crenellated wall and allows the visitor to "weigh" the spatial differences of the outside and inside conditions. Two public platforms at level +300mts representing the scale plates connected with a staircase and elevator generate a new access system to  the Arsenale. Offices and restrooms are placed at level +0,00mts under one of the platforms. The glass covered room at level +3,00mts allows for events to be organized inside, taking advantage of this new raised level as a stage overlooking the Arsenale's harbor.
